American Mediterranean Miniature Donkey
American Mediterranean donkeys are true miniatures that were imported to New Zealand from the USA in 1997. Many of the early imported miniatures from the USA have bloodlines going back to the Mediterranean islands of Sardinia and Sicily. They are now very popular in New Zealand with many more in the North Island than the South Island.
They come in a variety of colours and are very kind natured friendly donkeys. Their height should be no smaller than 29 inches and no taller than 36 inches.
Miniature donkeys can be ridden by small children, compete at shows in breed classes and performance classes, pull a small cart, and are ideal for therapy work with children and the elderly.
